It was Monday afternoon when I noticed a firm little bump under and behind my right earlobe. I felt it with my fingers and pressed it with my thumb, the squish familiar. I’m used to the things my body does when it’s sick: it cries more easily, it is even more fatigued than usual, the same few lymph nodes in my neck puff up and are tender to touch.
